What we do

Modernising planning

The planning system is always changing and adapting to new demands placed upon it. Planners have to deliver decisions quickly, if they are to meet their targets, while applications continue to grow in both number and complexity.

Developers equally have to adapt to the changing requirements placed upon them, while having to deal with local planning authorities that are often under-resourced and have a high turnover of staff.

The need to modernise the planning system, so that it can cope with the demands of both the users and its role as a regulator, is essential. We have been working with the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) on initiatives, such as planning delivery agreements, that would ease the burden for both developers and planners alike.
