What we do
Regeneration
The government is pursuing policies which, quite rightly, seek to reduce the economic, social and health inequalities that exist between different parts of the country. The private sector has a key role to play in helping to deliver the investment needed, but this investment is not yet happening on anything like a big enough scale to deliver real change within the next ten years.
We have been a firm supporter of the general thrust of such policies, but believe that, unless a more comprehensive approach to delivery and funding is taken, the level of regeneration envisaged by the government's Sustainable Communities Plan will not be realised efficiently, and this will have a detrimental effect on the economic and social well being of the UK.
Often major property-led regeneration opportunities take too long to realise their potential, delaying the enormous economic and community benefits that can ensue. Sometimes such opportunities are never realised, to the detriment of the economy and the community.
Some of our developer members are already experienced partners with the public sector in regeneration and are leaders in their field; we aim to make urban regeneration a mainstream activity for all of the UK property industry.
